I have notebooks of ideas that i want to work on eventually, but one that keeps coming back to me. Thanks to www.tk560.com i have plans for a very good vacuum former. This is more of a tool than an actual art piece, but to do most of the stuff that i want to make could be done with this one tool. Plus Halloween is a great time of the year for me, friends want costumes, i usually work on theater shows, and people want props. With this machine i could make all of those. For this project I am looking at spending around $250, and several weekends of work. Also the skills needed to complete this include carpentry, Electronic Wiring, and Welding. The welding will have to wait, the other two i should be able to do. Alternatively i could change the metal tubes with a hard wood that will not warp. The welded portion is to hold the plastic stable while it is moved from the heat to the vacuum.
This project is at the top of my list, so be looking forward to more from Master Effects.

Todays events.
Well today i spent helping my roomate with some car trouble, what we thought might cost $400 ended up costing $6... a good day i hope.
Art wise i spent today working on a couple of simple designs for my senior show, and those showing with me.

Continue?
Alright, so the mold came out at 90% slight deformation, but i can fix it. This ladies and gentleman is the result of using plaster as a base model, and trying to take a plaster mold. Not the best idea, but free to me. The better way to do this would be to use alginate for the main mold, plaster to reinforce it, and then hydracal or ultracal for the cast. Anyways, that has been set aside for a few days, and i am waiting on my funds to refill a little bit so that i can order the Gelatin and Sorbital.
On my senior show, i am coming along nicely. I have one of the center pieces done, and need to work on the second one. they will be hanging above one another in the center of the room with other pieces around it. More updates on this to come.

Beginning of a New Life
In two months I graduate, and stress is bogging me down, but there is a light. Even though I am an art student, i haven't had a chance to really work on my own work. At the moment i am trying to take advantage of having a shop, and also trying to prepare myself for being without these tools. For example a lot of the work i do is making molds and life casting, and i am making a permanent mold of my head to have and use in later projects.
Sadly i have been having trouble getting the materials to work for my purposes. I am determined though, i am going back to the lab tonight to work and get this right. I am bound and determind to say that i walked away with something from this fife year experience.
As a side note, if anyone knows of a job opening, or a really good place two rent a two bedroom apartment, please send them my way.
Edit: its hours later now, and the project is under way, i am covered in plaster, and must throw my Red Hot Chilipeppers shirt in the laundry(didnt realize i was wearing it.) and then back to work. I have half of the mold done, and the other half is about to be started. Cross your fingers as to this one comming out.
